Did you ever come across “There has been a critical error on this website. Please check your site admin email inbox for instructions.” . I did when I was trying to upgrade my templates. Website even pointed to a link to trouble shoot the issue suggesting go to backend disable plugins blah blah, thought I am going to spend few hours to fix the issue. Started checking the tools in Godaddy luckily I noticed they are supporting friendly restoration and backup facilities if you host on Godaddy. Very nice it took only 3 seconds to restore it back.
